Orange, whose motto is "A slice of old town charm," is located in Orange County, California, about 3 miles north of Santa Ana. Orange′s motto comes from its Old Town Historic District which still has building that was built just after the city was incorporated in 1888. In fact, this building is why the city is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is labeled the largest National Register District in the state. Another point of interest located in the city is The Block at Orange, which is a large outdoor shopping and entertainment center featuring a skate park, movie theaters, Dave & Buster′s, a bowling alley and places to eat and shop. Orange is also home to The Orange County Zoo, parks, lakes and The Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary.There are several schools, both public and private, located in Orange, including the Orange Unified School District, The Lutheran High School of Orange County, and Chapman University. UC Irvine Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospital, and the Orange County Transportation Authority are among the city′s top employers. Orange, like most of southern California, has a pleasant climate with year round average high temperature between the high 60′s and the low 80′s. There have been numerous famous people who have called the city home; among them are novelist Dean Koontz who used Orange as the setting for many of his books, NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Robby Gordon, and pro skateboarder Ronnie Creager.
